WHEN IS GTA 6 COMING TO PC?

Console Release: November 19, 2026

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders began June 25, 2026. Physical copies contain a download code” no disc is included.

PC Release: Expected 2027 or Later

Rockstar has not confirmed a PC release date for GTA 6. Based on their historical pattern, Rockstar typically releases PC versions 12-19 months after the console launch:

• GTA V: Console Sep 2013 → PC Apr 2015 (19 months)
• Red Dead Redemption 2: Console Oct 2018 → PC Nov 2019 (13 months)

If Rockstar follows this pattern, GTA 6 could arrive on PC between late 2027 and early 2028.

Recent leak (June 2026): An X account called DetectiveSeeds claims 3 former Rockstar employees said the PC version is targeting February 2027, aligning with Take-Two's fiscal year. If true, this would be Rockstar's fastest PC port ever” just 3 months after the console launch. Unverified, but the fiscal calendar logic is compelling.

Why the Delay?

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has stated the focus is on the "core consumer" (console) market first. This is not due to an exclusivity deal with Sony/Microsoft, but rather a strategic decision to maximize console sales before expanding to PC. Rockstar also uses the extra time to optimize for the wide range of PC hardware configurations.

Former producer explains: John Ricchio (ex-Rockstar producer) said in a July 2026 interview: "It's always better to start with the constraints. Shrinking is a lot harder than extending." Building for fixed console hardware first produces better results than scaling down from a high-end PC target.

Revenue data breach (June 2026): Leaked Rockstar financial records show PC generates just 3.1% of GTA Online's weekly revenue ($264K vs $8.1M from consoles combined). This gives Rockstar little financial incentive to prioritize a PC launch alongside consoles.
